An investigation into the terrible event that happened in Lagos on October 9, 2024, which resulted in the death of a police officer after an altercation with a soldier over an alleged traffic rule infringement, has been opened by the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army. The soldier who is thought to have committed the crime has been captured by the Division.
The Nigerian Army has conveyed its sorrow for the event and reaffirmed its dedication to following the Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct. The Military Police has been tasked with conducting more research and disciplinary action against the soldier who is accused of committing the infraction.
To guarantee that justice is done, the Division is collaborating closely with the Nigeria Police, according to Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Deputy Director of Army Public Relations. The Nigeria Police and the deceased’s family have received condolences from the General Officer Commanding 81 Division.
The public has been reassured by the Nigerian Army of its dedication to upholding justice and continuing cooperation with other security services.
“To guarantee that justice is done, a comprehensive investigation will be carried out and suitable disciplinary actions will be implemented.
“The Army will continue to sensitize its personnel to refrain from activities that could tarnish its image or breach trust with other security agencies and the civil populace.” Ayeni continues.
