Bishop David Olatunji Abioye and Bishop Thomas Aremu, two of the church’s respected leaders, have announced their retirement, and the Living Faith Church—also known as Winners Chapel—is getting ready to say goodbye to them. This October 2024.
Their retirement is in accordance with the Liberation Commission’s operating standards, which constitute the foundation of the church.
Bishop Aremu’s goodbye service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Living Faith Church Basorun in Ibadan, Oyo State, while Bishop Abioye’s farewell ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 18, 2024, in Durumi, Abuja. Since the ministry’s founding in 1987, Bishop David Abioye has played a crucial role, serving as the leader of one of the first five branches to be founded.
At the age of thirty-two, he was consecrated as the youngest bishop in the history of the church in 1993 at the Garden of Faith in Barnawa, Kaduna.
Bishop Thomas Aremu is the only surviving bishop of those consecrated in November 1999 at the Garden of Faith in Kaduna. He made the switch from a lucrative career as an accountant to full-time ministry.
The church’s membership holds him in high regard due to his noteworthy accomplishments. Living Faith Church is celebrating its pastors’ retirements in public for the first time, therefore this retirement is a historic occasion. The retirement age has been lowered from 60 to 58 according to the amended mandate.
Although Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of the church, continues to enjoy the luxury of lifetime service, future leaders will be limited to one or two seven-year terms, subject to approval by the Board of Trustees.
