According to Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, the Federal Government is committed to using agriculture as a means of addressing the current hardships faced by Nigerians.

The minister stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu allotted N362.94 billion to the agricultural sector to guarantee that farmers in all 36 states would receive an adequate supply of fertilizers, during a town hall meeting in Kaduna on Thursday, September 19.

He claimed that by installing sufficient irrigation systems that will enable year-round food production, the action will increase agricultural productivity.

“Mr. President is quite aware of the current difficulties the wonderful people of Nigeria are facing,” he said, “particularly in the area of high food costs, which have been geometrically galloping recently.

The government is committed to resolving the continuous struggles that our people endure. For this reason, N362.94 billion has been set aside for the agricultural sector, guaranteeing that farmers in all 36 states would receive an adequate supply of fertilizers to increase crop yields. To facilitate year-round food production, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is also establishing enough irrigation infrastructure. For a long-term settlement, there are also specific plans in place to end the dispute between farmers and herdsmen.

Similar measures, as listed in the Renewed Hope 11-Point Agenda, have been put into place by the President to help other economic sectors.

As indicated by the Federal Government’s intervention programs, these policies seek to improve Nigeria’s economic status and citizens’ quality of life by fostering business opportunities through a variety of intervention initiatives for youths, traders, artisans, students, and the manufacturing industry.
