Aisha Yesufu, a social critic, has warned Kemi Badenoch, the head of the UK Conservative Party, not to exploit her “Nigerian poverty mentality” to denigrate UK standards.
In reaction to Badenoch’s purported description of her Nigerian background as being dominated by fear and insecurity in a corrupt nation, Yesufu posted her remark on her X handle.
According to reports, the Conservative leader, who claimed to be Yoruba, said she had nothing in common with the northern region of Nigeria.
In addition, Badenoch recently defended her comments regarding Nigeria in the face of accusations that they are disparaging the nation. She also made fun of the country’s police force.
However, Yesufu contended that if the UK had not created an environment that encouraged the looted wealth of Nigeria, such similarities would not have occurred.
Badenoch should mature and move on, she said.
As Yesufu wrote:
It’s time for Kemi Badenoch @KemiBadenoch to mature and move on! It’s all about context! If she believes in the British police, she was questioned. How does her experience with the Nigerian police influence her decision to trust the British police?
“What else contributed to our poverty?
“The terms “poor” and “Nigeria” wouldn’t be used together if the UK didn’t create an atmosphere that encouraged individuals to steal Nigeria’s wealth and take it back home.
“So, because the bar is low in Nigeria, it doesn’t mean she should lower the bar for their police! She should not use her Nigerian poverty mentality to lower the bar there!
“@PoliceNG, you see your life? Always disgracing us up and down!”
