Since the Senate has set Wednesday, January 22, 2025, as the deadline for budget defenses, the suspension, which was notified by the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, might result in a zero allocation for the OAGF.

The purpose of this schedule is to enable the Committee on Appropriation to compile reports from other committees.

Chira and his colleagues were sacked for their carelessness in handling budget documents after appearing before the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, which was chaired by Senator Ahmed Wadada.

When it was revealed that the budget sheet Chira was reading was different from the copies given to committee members, the meeting became heated.

A committee member bemoaned the fact that the Auditor General was unprepared and unable to respond to simple inquiries about the performance of his office’s 2024 budget.

“It is left for the Auditor General for the Federation to go get prepared and return, even in two hours, now that he has been told that Wednesday is the deadline,” Senator Wadada said, attempting to calm concerns over losing out on the budget process.
