Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president, has stated that the state of affairs in Nigeria is due to the lack of leadership in the globe, particularly in Africa.
An unidentified Nigerian president was criticized by Obasanjo of entering office without a strategy.
He claimed that the president’s statement on an unstudied topic demonstrates a lack of leadership ability.
In an exclusive interview with Kayode Akintemi on News Central Television on Thursday, the former president emphasized the need of leadership in Nigeria.
I’ll give you an example once more: while I was the military head of state, we made the decision to join the frontline states in order to combat the remaining effects of colonialism.
“I will say that at this time, there is generally a leadership deficit in the world,” Obasanjo stated. Otherwise, we shouldn’t be in the predicament that we got ourselves into. Regretfully, we take two steps ahead, one step sideways, and two or three steps backward in Africa, and Nigeria specifically. We can’t go very far with that. We must focus on leadership.
Regarding a Nigerian president who assumed office without a strategy, what are your thoughts? He just said, “Three-point plan,” after waking up. Which three points are they? What will they accomplish? What are the individuals that have contributed to it? Oh, you simply show up, speak, and make a pronouncement on something that hasn’t been studied.
I’ll give you an example once more: while I was the military head of state, we made the decision to join the frontline states in the struggle against the remaining effects of colonialism and apartheid.
We were also resolute. Therefore, although being a thousand kilometers away from the frontline, we gained recognition as members of the frontline states due to our policy, declarations, and resolve. And we made the decision that we had to take the necessary action. We collaborated with the states on the front lines.
