As the regional football governing body investigates the incident that prompted the Nigerian team’s protest and subsequent flight from Libya, this delay keeps everyone on edge.

The Libyan and Nigerian representatives gave their explanations of what happened at a video conference held by the CAF Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday, according to sources from BeIN Sports.

After the Nigerian team objected to their treatment when they arrived in Libya and their flight was abruptly rerouted to Labraq Airport, CAF formally canceled the game. The group claimed they were held for eighteen hours without food or drink.

Nigeria highlighted the dire circumstances they were subjected to while in captivity and requested CAF’s involvement. Patrice Motsepe, the president of CAF, has now stated that the incident is under thorough investigation.

He underlined that CAF is currently examining its rules regarding how visiting teams are treated in order to ensure strict adherence and that any deviation from these standards will not be tolerated by the football organization.

Amaju Pinnick, a FIFA Council member, has stated that CAF would make their decision about the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Libya and Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

“CAF is taking this issue very seriously,” Pinnick stated in a statement made today in an interview with Arise Television.

“Patrice Motsepe, the president of CAF, is a living example of honesty and pan-Africanism.

“In our executive committee meeting, we discussed it. It was a hot topic of conversation.

We emphasized how important this is and how anything might have happened to the Super Eagles.

“Therefore, CAF is treating the situation seriously and is investigating every possibility.”
