On Tuesday, November 6, the Nigerian under-18 handball team defeated Cameroon after a fierce battle, winning 44–33 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
For the reigning champions, who are committed to winning the crown again, this victory marks an important turning point.

Against a Cameroonian squad renowned for its potent defensive tactics, the Nigerian handball team shown incredible tactical skill and resilience under the wise guidance of coach Emeka Nnamani.

Nigeria showed their offensive prowess early on in the game, making good use of fast breaks and scoring several goals from the wings. They finished at 22-15 after managing to build a sizable advantage before the end of the first half.

Nigeria continued to build momentum as the second half got underway. Christian Bolaji, a left-back, was a great player who controlled the game and scored important goals from the flank and the nine-meter line. Due in large part to his effort, Nigeria was able to increase their lead and win the game by a commanding 44-33.

The game’s most memorable event came at the end when Foloki was hurt after colliding with the Cameroonian goalkeeper while trying to hold the ball. In spite of this defeat, he was named the Most Valuable Player for his outstanding effort during the game.

Coach Nnamani said after the game that he was proud of the team’s perseverance and hard work in defeating a formidable foe. “I am really happy that we did enough to beat Cameroon in the semifinal,” he said. I want to give the boys credit for fighting hard against Cameroon and trying all in their power. To go to the intercontinental phase, we shall now be sure to give it our all in the final.

The final game, which is slated for Wednesday at 3 p.m. Nigeria time, will pit Nigeria against Guinea.
