At Shiwarin town in Kiyawa local government, Jigawa State, a tragic motor vehicle accident claimed the lives of forty donkeys and at least two people.
In a statement, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command, affirmed this.
“The incident occurred when a motor vehicle, Daf, with registration number NGU 498 XA, was driven by a Mohd Hassan of Potiskum LGA, Yobe, and was loaded with 100 donkeys and passengers. When the vehicle reached Shuwarin town, the driver lost control of the vehicle and fell down,” the statement reads.
“Forty donkeys and two humans perished.”
According to him, two of the passengers—Kalifa Adamu and Innani Abubakar, both from Potiskum—died instantly.
The motorist was sent to AKTH Kano for treatment after suffering severe injuries and losing his left hand.
