During his remarks at Monday’s AFRIFF discussion, John made this clear.

According to him, Nollywood must raise the caliber of its films to meet international standards.

The actor, 32, who made his global debut in the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy, also emphasized the value of international cooperation.

Boyega urged the federal government to assist Nollywood and stated that workshops and educational opportunities are necessary to improve the business.

Boyega cited the success of Black Panther and Marvel’s Avengers at the international box office as examples of international blockbusters.

Boyega also suggested that producers and directors embrace structural changes, be more open-minded, carry out in-depth study, and welcome constructive criticism.

“Unfortunately, the quality of the filmmaking is not up to par,” he remarked. We must work together at this point, and everyone must be a pupil. Both foreign and Nigerian filmmakers must be modest in order to work together.

Additionally, we must raise the bar. A Nigerian team that can earn a billion naira at the worldwide box office is what I want to see.

“We certainly need to raise the caliber of filmmaking here, but I want us to be the center of attention in the mainstream.

Opportunities such as workshops that provide people the chance to learn follow from this. We also require the backing of the government. The most crucial thing right now is that we must reconsider. The bar needs to be raised.

“If I like Avengers and Marvel, why not in Nigeria?” should be the new norm. Why aren’t those films available here? In the globe box, we witnessed Black Panther’s demise.

“They made a lot of money copying you, but why can’t we do the same for ourselves? It requires letting go of our arrogance and making everyone a pupil, in my opinion.

Additionally, Nollywood producers and directors need to be receptive to a structural shift. A systemic shift is required.

“Do extracurricular research outside of the part to see how the character would talk and walk if you think you have a movie together and haven’t done the study necessary for the dialogue to be authentic.

“You are not there yet, believe me, and it is crucial that someone at this level let you know that as otherwise, how would you be able to realize your full potential?

“So we need to consider how we can work together to bring about change.”
