Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has disclosed that his administration is presently drafting legislation to establish a new minimum salary for state employees.
At Osun State University’s 14th convocation event, which took place on Saturday at the school’s main campus in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke revealed this.
Adeleke disclosed that his administration is tackling the difficulties caused by the elimination of gasoline subsidies, which have resulted in supplementary duties for laborers.
He gave government workers the assurance that measures, such as preparations for a new minimum wage, were being made to mitigate the effects.
He declared, “We are figuring out how to put the recently authorized minimum wage into effect. This is a component of our dedication to lessening the effects of the most recent economic shifts on state employees.
The governor reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to Osun State University’s expansion and mentioned the several efforts that had been put in place to help the university.
Adeleke listed the building of an office complex at the Isale-Osun campus as one of these initiatives, which facilitated the accreditation of the university’s health program.
Additionally, we helped the institution build its state-of-the-art Anatomy Complex, which we officially opened today.
Building roadways to Sasha Market’s student area and other university campuses has also been given top priority.
“We instantly gave the staff members their full year’s arrears. In addition, we have given all employees palliative benefits, and we are now figuring out how to apply the recently authorized minimum wage,” he stated.
In addition to asking parents and guardians to continue supporting their children as they move into new phases of life, Governor Adeleke advised university personnel and students to keep the peace and concentrate on making good contributions to the institution’s progress.
He declared, “Only in a tranquil and harmonious atmosphere can this bastion of learning continue to advance. Let us refrain from needless animosity and hostility. Rather, concentrate on the shared objective of growing this wonderful organization.
“I implore the parents and guardians present here today to hold onto their children as they enter the next stage of their lives.”
Speaking earlier, Prof. Clement Adebooye, the Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, stated his confidence that the graduates were ready to have a positive impact on the country’s economy, workforce, and public service.
