Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has expressed worry that he might be arrested and held.

El-Rufai said he had no plans to go into exile, despite claiming to have received rumors that he would be arrested.

The former governor said in a post on X on Tuesday that his enemies are attempting to expel him from the nation.

He divulged this when responding to a user and staunch fan, Imran Wakili, regarding the supposed plot to capture and jail him.

Currently in Egypt, El-Rufai stated that he intends to return to Nigeria by February 20.

El-Rufai wrote, “I will be in Nigeria for longer than ever before.”

Because they want me to go into self-imposed exile, they have used a number of my friends, relatives, and political acquaintances to send me identical threats and intimidation letters.

All of my prior plans for academic study and language acquisition have now been placed on hold. The days of silence are over. There has never been any room for inaction.

Arresting, imprisoning, and torturing those who are thought to be political opponents is nothing new in human history. I have already been jailed and arrested three times for voicing my opinions about earlier administrations.

After an arrest, confinement, or torture, political life always resumes the following morning. Regarding death, it occurs when Allah wills it to, and it is ultimately each person’s date of death.

“For the benefit of the pitiful people who always have trouble sleeping while I’m in Nigeria, please be aware that I plan to return in time for the 20 February launch of President IBB’s memoirs, in sha Allah.

“Allah is our only source of dependence. The only mortal we dread is Allah Ta’ala. Though we prepare for the worse, we always hope for the best.

El-Rufai is presently engaged in a confrontation with All Progressives Congress (APC) members and allies of President Bola Tinubu.

Citing the absence of meetings among the party’s organs for the last two years, he recently charged that the APC lacked internal democracy.
