The Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC, Yobe State Council has advised its affiliated members to disregard a strike notification that is circulating and calls for an indefinite strike.

Muktari Musa Tarbutu, the chairman of the State NLC, called the strike notice phony and without justification in a statement released on Saturday.

Part of the statement said: “As you may remember, the government-NLC joint committee has completed its negotiations on a new minimum wage. The report has been sent to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, for his review and approval.

Therefore, by issuing this notice, the NLC Yobe State Council is urging all Yobe State civil servants to ignore this alleged circular and carry on with their regular tasks. We also encourage the public and Yobe State civil servants to be wary of false information and circulars.

Before disseminating information, he advised public officials to always confirm it with reliable sources.

Tarbutu went on to say that the phony circular did not come from the State Council, restating NLC’s dedication to advancing and defending the interests and rights of Yobe State employees.
