Eleven journalists were abducted while passing through Anambra State on their way to cover a football game in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from Lagos.
Sources claim that the victims were kidnapped on Wednesday while riding a bus through Iseke in the Ihiala region of the state.
“Six of the journalists have been rescued, one, identified as Kola was dead, while four of the victims are still being held in captivity,” according to another source.
Six members of the media team have been recovered, according to police spokeswoman Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident. Rescue efforts are still underway to potentially save the seventh crew member.
The six members of the media team who were kidnapped while traveling along Isseke-Orlu Road in Ihiala from Lagos to Uyo have been successfully recovered by joint security forces.
“Meanwhile, operations are still ongoing for the possible rescuse of the seventh crew member,” he stated.
