Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi, accepted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s invitation on Wednesday (EFCC).
The EFCC issued a wanted list for the former governor because to allegations of massive fraud involving billions of naira and corrupt enrichment during his tenure.
His legal team, family, and political supporters were consulted, according to a statement released by his media staff.
The text says as follows: “The former governor, who values due process and the rule of law, had only ever asked for the implementation of his fundamental rights throughout.
“A competent court of jurisdiction has heard the case, and Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been well represented by his legal team at each session. The former governor has nothing to hide and nothing to fear, thus it is crucial that he accepts the EFCC’s request to clear his record. The former governor is fully committed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s attempts to steer Nigeria toward sustainable economic growth and is in favor of the nation’s anti-corruption campaign.According to records, he was the first Kogi State governor to implement an anti-corruption system to thwart graft and guarantee that the state’s resources are used for the benefit of the people of the state.
High-profile Nigerians escorted him to the EFCC headquarters. “We hope the Commission will be as professional as necessary and respect his fundamental rights as a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement reads. We’ll reveal more information on his interactions with Anti-Graft Agency agents later.
