Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has given an assurance that the Apo-Karshi road would be ready for use in April, 2025.

Wike, who gave the assurance after inspecting the road project on Thursday, said the contractor, Messrs Khakatar Limited, had given him assurances of completing the project in April 2025, noting that he had opted to give the contractor the benefit of the doubt.
He said, “I still have my doubt, but they are still insisting that by April, they would have completed this project. It’s a project very dear to us, we know the importance of this road. So many people are eager to see that this project is completed on time.”

Wike noted that the completion of the Apo-Karshi road would ease off a lot of traffic and boost the economic activities of the area, adding that residents should give the contractor the benefit of doubt.
He continued, “I believe that they will play their own part by doing what they are supposed to do. The funds are there to be given to them if they put more efforts.

if I come here again and see that they have improved on what we have seen on group today, I will tell the treasury department to release further funds to them.

But for now, let’s watch them. But we are very serious with this project.

He dismissed the idea of cancelling the road project and reawarding it to another contractor, saying, “So many people don’t understand that when you cancel a project. There are a lot of implications for it, and so we don’t want that.

There are financial implications, there are legal implications, and so many other things.

So, what we are saying is that, we would continue to encourage the contractor, to see that he finishes this project on time, because we are ready, and we will not have any problems from our own side.

That’s why from time to time, I will come here ,to see that this project is completed on time.”
