Timaya, whose real name is Inetimi Alfred Odom, is a singer who has expressed regret over the world’s current struggles.
Although economic suffering is a worldwide occurrence, he pointed out that Nigeria experiences the worst of it.
In a recent interview, Timaya talked to Channels Television.
“It’s incredibly difficult. I care about other people because I can’t be happy if they’re not happy. I settle my bills. I assist many folks. I can therefore relate to what folks are going through. “I’m experiencing the hardship as well,” he bemoaned.
“Due to the increasing cost of living, my staff’s pay and family maintenance have significantly increased.
“You don’t anticipate normalcy. Not to mention myself, even politicians are crying. Earning in dollars is the only way to keep up with the demands of the modern economy. You can make a lot of money if you convert your foreign exchange earnings into naira.
Because they are earning and spending in dollars, things are still difficult even in America at the moment. Everywhere, it’s difficult. Nigeria is more difficult than the rest of the world at the moment.
Timaya also discussed how the entertainment business is being impacted by the present economic downturn.
“To promote music these days, you need a lot of money. We didn’t even bother making music videos before. It was expensive even if we were filming a video it cost just N1.5 million.
Here’s a single video to shoot: 100 million, 50 million, 60 million. Additionally, you need more millions to market the video when it is shot. Because of this, musician booking costs are very high,” he remarked.
