The Transmission Company of Nigeria therefore declares that on Monday, October 14, 2024, at approximately 6:48 p.m., there was a partial disruption to the national grid, and that efforts are still being made to fully restore the grid.

Even while the grid recovery got underway right away, with the Azura power station supplying the blackstart, it only advanced to a certain point at around 10.24 am today when it ran into a problem that caused a minor setback.

Despite the minor setback, TCN persisted in its grid recovery operation, which is now at an advanced stage and guarantees bulk power availability to roughly 90% of its substations across the country. The Abuja axis and other significant distribution load centers around the country now have power again.

The Ibom Gas producing station, which was disconnected from the grid yesterday, was unaffected by the partial disturbance and continued to feed regions in the South Southern region of the nation, including the 132kV transmission substations in Eket, Ekim, Uyo, and Itu.

As soon as the grid is fully restored, an investigation into the incident’s cause will begin.
