Rep. Riley Moore, leading a U.S. Congressional delegation to Nigeria, said both countries are making meaningful progress on security, highlighted by the creation of a joint Nigeria–U.S. task force. He praised President Tinubu for the rescue of 100 kidnapped Catholic schoolchildren and described talks with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu as productive, noting agreed steps to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts and protect vulnerable communities, including Christians in the Middle Belt.

The delegation also visited Benue State to meet victims, religious leaders and local officials. Moore said the Nigerian government has shown openness to deeper partnership and that ongoing dialogue and concrete actions are needed, but overall, “things are moving in the right direction.”
