Bridget Omolola Oloworaran’s appointment as Director General of the National Pension Commission, or PENCOM, has been approved by the Senate.

The approval came after Cyril Fasuyi Oluwole, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service, reported to the Committee of the Whole that the nominee had been vetted and had the qualifications to be the agency’s director general.

He stated in his report that the nominee had the necessary educational background to fulfill that role and that her nomination was unhindered, despite the fact that no petition had been filed against her.

To allow her to continue her burdened duties, the congressman encouraged senators to ratify the candidate as soon as possible. “The Senate shall receive and take into consideration the Committee on Establishment and Public Service’s report confirming Oloworaran Omolola Bridget’s nomination for the position of Director General of the National Pension Commission, PENCOM.”

Senators Sunday Karimi [APC Kogi West] and Jibrin Isah Echocho [Kogi East] attested to the nominee’s ability and professional competence. She comes from the Kogi West Senatorial District.

She was confirmed as the Director General of PENCOM following a voice vote by Jibrin Barau, the Deputy Senate President, who oversaw plenary. The Deputy Senate President said that he believed the nominee will put in a lot of effort to reposition the agency and praised the Committee for thoroughly evaluating her.

“Let me express my gratitude to the Senate Committee under Senator Cyril. By vetting the candidate and verifying her qualifications to run the office, you have done a fantastic job. Senators from her state also attested to this.
