Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has cautioned that Nigeria will continue to stagnate as a result of unimplemented policies.
Obasanjo voiced concern that Nigeria appeared to be taking one stride forward and three steps back due to the leadership’s incapacity to implement policy.
The former president spoke at a ceremony in Abuja yesterday.
Obasanjo stated that Nigeria had the policies necessary to attain greatness, but faulted politicians for the country’s lack of growth.
Obasanjo stated that having policies or making comments is insufficient for leaders. Nigeria has an abundance of policies.
“Unfortunately, Nigeria has become a burial ground for initiatives that have not been adopted or executed.
“Those who made progress did so not because they wanted to, but because they took action. They don’t take two steps ahead, three steps back.
“Regrettably, we are doing this in all aspects of our national life. And as long as we continue to do things this way, we will fail to make progress.”
