Obasanjo made the plea on Tuesday at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, during the commemoration of Professor Oludele Ojediran, the vice chancellor of Bells University, turning 70.

Obasanjo stressed the value of youth empowerment and called on all tiers of government to give young people the tools and chances they need to create jobs rather than just look for them.

“The Federal Government and President Tinubu must find a way to finance education for its sustainability,” he stated. All levels of government must enable young people to create employment opportunities.

Citing Professors Adeyemi and Ojediran, who have both held the position of Vice Chancellor at Bells University, as models, the former president commended LAUTECH for its contribution to the development of eminent scholars and administrators.

“I have always placed more importance on education for the greater good than for financial gain. I’m still dedicated to upholding our country’s educational heritage,” Obasanjo continued.

The Monarch Promotes Innovation in Agriculture
Oba Ghandi Olaoye, the Soun of Ogbomoso, also spoke at the occasion and praised Obasanjo for his long-standing contributions to Nigeria’s agricultural and educational sectors.

The king urged agricultural engineering specialist Professor Ojediran to use his expertise to promote agricultural growth in Ogbomoso and the surrounding area.

In addition, Oba Olaoye promised to fund projects that would advance regional and national development and granted acreage to those who were interested in pursuing agricultural endeavors.
