From Tuesday through Thursday, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, or NiMet, has forecasted thundery and rainy weather nationwide.
According to NiMet’s weather outlook posted on Monday in Abuja, thunderstorms are expected to occur on Tuesday morning over portions of the states of Bauchi, Kebbi, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, Adamawa, and Kaduna.
Later in the day, thunderstorms are predicted to affect the entire region, according to the agency.
Thunderstorms are predicted later in the day over the Federal Capital Territory, the states of Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa.
“Parts of Ebonyi, Imo, Enugu, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa states are expected to experience moderate rains in the morning hours in the southern region.”Thunderstorms are predicted to pass over portions of Kogi, Benue, Plateau, Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa and Niger states during the morning hours.
It stated, “Intermittent rains are predicted for the entire region later in the day.”
The agency predicted thunderstorms in the early morning hours over portions of the states of Taraba, Adamawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, and Kaduna.
Later in the day, thunderstorms are predicted over portions of the states of Borno, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, and Kebbi, according to NiMet.
“Thunderstorms are predicted to pass over portions of the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Niger, and Kwara states in the early morning hours in the North Central region.”
Thunderstorms are predicted to pass over portions of Nasarawa, Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, and the Niger States in the afternoon and evening.
Thunderstorms are predicted to pass over portions of the southern states of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Enugu, Imo, Edo, Cross River, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa in the morning.
“Thunderstorms are anticipated throughout the entire region as the afternoon and evening hours progress,” the statement stated.
NiMet predicted thunderstorms over sections of the states of Taraba, Adamawa, Kebbi, and Sokoto on Thursday morning.
Later in the day, thunderstorms are forecast across portions of Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory, and over Borno, Bauchi, Kaduna, Taraba, and Adamawa States, according to the agency’s prediction.
“Isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Osun, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, and Bayelsa states in the morning hours,” the statement stated for the southern region.
Because there is a significant chance of urban flooding in major cities as a result of heavy downpours, NiMet advised inhabitants to stay away from flood-prone locations.
In regions where thunderstorms are predicted to develop, high winds may occur before the rains, therefore the public was warned to take appropriate precautions.
