To dismantle Turji’s operational network, the week-long operation was conducted in Gebe village, Isa LGA, Sokoto State, as well as in portions of Shinkafi and Isa LGAs.

On his X account on Wednesday, Zagazola Makama, a counterterrorism and insurgency specialist in the Lake Chad Basin, revealed the development.

Makama revealed that the operation was spearheaded by Special Forces of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Brigade and the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Services, with support from precision airstrikes by the Air Components.

“Among the seven prominent commanders neutralized were: Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon Saniya, also known as Yafi Bahaushe,” Makama stated.

These people played a crucial role in Turji’s activities by organizing attacks, overseeing logistics, and enabling the flow of supplies and weapons throughout the area. The gang’s leadership and operational powers are severely damaged by their removal,” he continued.

A range of ground operations, including ambushes, search-and-destroy operations, and intelligence-driven airstrikes, were part of the offensive.

With the goal of interfering with Turji’s operations and logistics, security authorities targeted camps and bandit hideouts that were well-known for their involvement in criminal activity.
