Chief George Moghalu, a former managing director and chief executive officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has announced his desire to compete for the Anambra State governorship under the banner of the Labour Party (LP).

But he promised to serve just one term if elected in order to finish the South’s turn before the seat shifts to the center.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday at his Nnewi residence, the former All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, who recently defected from the party to the Liberal Party, characterized Governor Chukwuma Soludo as a failure and called for his removal in the upcoming election.

Additionally, he denied rumors circulating that he could run for the Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the demise of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in Anambra South.

“I will run for governor next year, not the Senate,” he declared. I recently left the APC, and on October 1st, I became a member of the Labour Party.

“I was persuaded that the Labour Party is the party that best fits my personality and provides the greatest platform for me to achieve my goals after consulting my wife, kids, supporters, and friends before making this decision.

“Soludo has let the people down; we must quickly restore Anambra.” The state’s infrastructure is lacking, and security is nonexistent.

“We won’t put up with him any longer. In eight years, he will never be able to accomplish what he was unable achieve in four. Eight years is not necessary to develop Anambra.

He emphasized that local politics determine political outcomes when explaining his choice to leave the ruling All Progressive Party (APC), where he believed that the federal government may support him. He stated, “It will be the decision of Anambra people to vote any party, and not for the federal government to choose for the people.”
