The Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma has stated that its airstrikes in Sokoto State killed solely terrorist accomplices, despite circulating rumours to the contrary.

On Wednesday, there were rumours that the military had accidentally bombed two settlements in Sokoto State’s Silame Local Government Area. At least ten civilians were killed by the military fighter jets, according to Abubakar Bawa, the governor of Sokoto State’s press secretary.

But according to a statement from the Joint Task Force spokesman Lt. Col. Abdullahi Abubakar, the airstrikes in the settlements of Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa targeted members of the Lakurawa terrorist organisation.

Crucially, the targets hit at Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa have been positively recognised as belonging to the Lakurawa faction, he stated.

Crucially, the targets hit at Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa have been positively identified as belonging to the Lakurawa group, which strengthens the case for the military action,” he stated.

Although these claims have sparked worries, it is important to make clear that all military operations are predicated on careful information and reconnaissance work.

In order to guarantee accuracy and save civilian lives, this exacting procedure is especially crucial when targeting organisations such as the Lakurawa terrorist group.
