An extremely alarming quantity of weapons and ammunition that were smuggled into the nation have been stopped by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

The Nation claims that the valuations of the huge weaponry and ammunition have not yet been revealed.

Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of Customs, is currently in Lagos to speak to reporters at the Federal Operation Unit (FOU) Zone “A,” located in Ikeja.The confiscated weapons, drones, and military equipment, valued at ₦1.5 billion, were shipped from Turkey to Lagos State in July 2024.

148 drones, 172 ballistic vests, 15 ballistic plates, one ballistic helmet, eight walkie-talkies, 9,172 military and paramilitary badges, 20 camouflage uniforms, 100 camouflage vests, 172 camouflage caps, and 120 binoculars were among the confiscated items.

At the Onne port in Rivers state, customs authorities reportedly confiscated 112,500 pieces of live ammo and 844 rifles two days prior.
