Kanayo O. Kanayo, a veteran Nollywood actor, has questioned Nigeria’s administration in light of the overwhelming military and police presence in the country’s south-east.
Kanayo expressed worry in a video posted to his Instagram page on Wednesday, exposing the humiliation experienced by travelers in the region.
While comparing the region to his journey from Ibadan to Lagos, the actor stated, “I left the Felele Olorunsogo neighborhood of Ibadan at 7:15 this morning and arrived in Lagos state at precisely 8:15. I discovered that there were no police or army checkpoints along the 80-kilometer route.
“Why is the South-East so militarized and policed that it is impossible to travel 200 kilometers without encountering a checkpoint.
“I need to pose this question because the shame and delay that people face needs to be addressed. They humiliate others who travel the same distance between Enugu and Onitsha to the point where passengers are often requested to come down with their hands up.
“Is the South East still part of Nigeria? Let us understand. “Have the representatives seen the condition of the federal roads?” he inquired.
