A tanker explosion in Jigawa State’s Majia local government area has resulted in 153 deaths and 100 injuries.

105 people had died and that 70 others had been injured in varying degrees.

DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam, the police spokesperson, verified the rise in victims in a new statement.

According to him, the deceased have been laid to rest in a mass grave, while the wounded are presently being treated at the hospitals in Aminu Kano, Jahun, Nguru, Hadejia, and Gumel.

Governor Mallam Umar Namadi, meanwhile, has conveyed his profound sadness over the terrible event.

Governor Namadi quickly went to the scene of the tragedy and participated in the mass burial and funeral prayer.

“Our prayers and thoughts are with the families of the victims during this difficult time,” he said.

“We express our solidarity with those harmed in this tragic incident as well as those who have lost loved ones.”

Additionally, Governor Namadi stated that the state government would cover the medical expenses of all individuals hurt in the fire, who are currently being treated in hospitals throughout the state and abroad.

“As we continue to work on preventing such tragedies in the future,” he stated, the State Government will make sure that “the affected families receive the needed assistance.”

The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has reported that 107 individuals have perished in the disaster thus far, while 57 others have been hospitalized with varying degrees of burn.

In order to stop more fatalities, Governor Namadi asked the public to put safety first in such situations and refrain from congregating at the scene of accidents.
