President Bola Tinubu by has bestowed upon visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi the national honor of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON). During the Nigeria/India bilateral meeting on Sunday, November 17, at the Presidential palace in Abuja, Tinubu paid tribute to the Indian Prime Minister.

The gathering is one of the events commemorating the Indian Prime Minister’s state visit. According to Tinubu, the Indian PM was invited in an effort to revive the two countries’ long-standing friendship.

“Nigeria cherishes its strong connection with India, which we strive to strengthen and expand for the benefit of both of our friendly nations.

We greatly admire your accomplishment of winning three straight elections in a complicated country, and you demonstrate a strong dedication to democratic values and norms.

Today, I will bestow upon you the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger, the Prime Minister of India, and the National Honor of Nigeria. “This is to demonstrate Nigeria’s gratitude and dedication to India as a partner,” he stated.
