The well-known Nollywood actress Ini Edo has now disclosed why she chose surrogacy over giving birth to the child herself.
The actress said this on the current season 3 of the reality show “Young Famous and African.”
Ini Edo also discussed the paternity of her child in a conversation with her co-stars.
The actress said she had problems carrying pregnancies in response to inquiries over her marriage and the paternity of her daughter.
Nadia, one of her coworkers, inquired, “Do you have a child?
Ini Edo: “Yes, a baby girl.”
Nadia: “Are you married?”
Ini Edo: “ I’m not married.”
Nadia: “Are you together with the dad?”
Ini Edo: “No I am not.”
Nadia: “Is he still alive?”
“He is not dead,” Ini Edo said. He is not connected to us in any way. There are only two of us. My daughter and I.
Since my journey is personal, I don’t really want to discuss it. My child is being raised by me alone. I underwent surrogacy.
I wanted a child, but I didn’t have a male in my life at the time, and there are various approaches to that.
“I never imagined that I would have problems getting pregnant. However, I have experienced problems with long-term pregnancy. I asked myself, “What are the options available?” when it appeared that I would not be getting younger and that it would not happen.
“I chose this choice when it presented itself. I am really pleased with my choice.
The actress went on to say that she endured six miscarriages after undergoing IVF treatments to conceive before choosing to use surrogacy.
The 42-year-old actress married Philip Ehiagwina, a Nigerian-American businessman, in November 2008; the two divorced in 2014.
