On Monday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reopened the recently restored Odo Iya Alaro Bridge.

The governor claims that the reopening will be a major step in the direction of relieving the area’s ongoing traffic jams.

Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu’s deputy, stated that the renovation was in line with the administration’s goal of providing sufficient traffic control and convenience of transit.

The governor asked people to be accountable for safeguarding the infrastructure.

Sanwo-Olu forbade the removal of recently installed manhole covers and threatened to prosecute anyone found doing so.

He clarified that since the new manholes were composed of fiber, thieves could not use them.

Since the recently renovated manholes are constructed of fibers rather than metal, anyone removes it will be out of luck.

“Leave the manholes alone; their purpose is to keep people safe by preventing them from falling off the bridge.

He threatened to prosecute anyone seen removing the manholes off the bridge.

The project was completed ahead of schedule, in 54 days as opposed to the projected 90 days, and the governor praised all parties involved.

He expressed gratitude for the work done by the LASTMA, Ministry of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Office of Works.

Mr. Olufemi Daramola, Special Adviser on Infrastructure, stated in his remarks that the bridge was motorized and ready for use after restoration that included the installation of new expansion joints and corrective work.
