Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru, has called on Nigerians to keep faith with the administration of President Bola Tinubu as he has set mechanisms in action to take the country to her ultimate destination.

Nwifuru made the call on Sunday during the Thanksgiving Holy Mass held in Government House, Abakaliki, as part of activities honoring the 2024 Independence Anniversary.

He stated that the withdrawal of fuel subsidy by President Tinubu is a well-thought-out move that should be appreciated by all.

He argued that before the termination of the subsidy regime, marketers had held the country to ransom to the point they controlled what transpired in the country even to the prejudice of the vast majority.

“If Mr President had allowed these marketers to continue to do what they were doing, this country would not get to this level infrastructurally. This decision made by Mr President is timely,” he said.

The governor was optimistic that the hardship created by the subsidy elimination is short, adding “less than 6 months from now, fuel will be cheaper than what we have now.”

Governor Nwifuru emphasized his intention to operate an all-inclusive government in the state to ensure the temporary consequences of subsidy removal are not felt.

“My wish is to make sure everybody is comfortable because we are equal before God Almighty,” he stated.

The governor congratulated the founding fathers for their services, which resulted in the foundation of the state 28 years ago and divulged the government’s decision to recognize them on October 1.

Governor Nwifuru further asked the cooperation and prayers of the people in the responsibility of navigating the affairs of the state.

“Nobody is perfect. As leaders, we need your prayers at all times. It is better to pray for leaders to transform their goals into reality instead of gossiping about them because no one is perfect,” he said.
