Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, has come under fire from social-political activist Aisha Yesufu, who called him a “village champion.”

According to Yesufu, Wike confuses Abuja with Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, where his name makes people shudder.

“Wike believes Abuja to be Port Harcourt, where he was a local champion and his name made everyone shudder!” On X, Yesufu wrote.

Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was recently criticized by socio-political commentator Martins Ortse, also known as VeryDarkMan, for demolishing the Ruga neighborhood.

Wike ought to move the people in the Ruga village whose homes were destroyed, according to VeryDarkMan.

The social critic responded to Wike’s statement by stating that displacing more than “10,000 people will further cause security issues.”  in the FCT.

In an attempt to rid the nation’s capital of alleged annoyances and illegal activity, Wike had already directed a task force known as “Operation Sweep” to destroy Ruga and neighboring neighborhoods.

Wike clarified after the demolition that the goal of the operation was to secure and sanitize the FCT.
