An increase in application fees for a number of temporary resident categories has been announced by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Those wishing to apply for temporary resident permits (TRPs), return to Canada following inadmissibility, or regain their temporary resident status will be impacted by the increased fees, which vary from 2.80% to 4.69%.

The IRCC has also revised its cost schedule for a variety of applications, including those from workers, students, visitors, and other individuals looking to obtain temporary status in Canada, according to Immigration News Canada (INC).

Eight separate application types are affected by the fee adjustments, with varying amounts for each.

For example, the cost to restore Visitor Status has increased from $229.00 to $239.75; the cost to restore Student Status has increased from $379.00 to $389.75; and the cost to restore Worker Status has increased to $394.75 from $384.00.

Additionally, the authorization fee to return to Canada has increased from $459.55 to $479.75. Based on criminality, the cost of criminal rehabilitation has increased from $229.77 to $239.75. The criminal rehabilitation charge for serious criminality has increased from $1,148.87 to $1,199.00. The cost of International Experience Canada (IEC) has gone up from $172.00 to $179.75, and the Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) is now $239.75 instead of $229.77.

The cost of obtaining permission to return to Canada has gone up by 4.40% for those who are judged inadmissible and want to do so. This is relevant in situations when there have been previous infractions or removal orders.

The cost of applying for criminal rehabilitation, which permits those with criminal records to enter Canada lawfully, has increased by more than 4%.

Likewise, TRPs (Temporary Resident Permits), which grant temporary access to inadmissible individuals, now cost 4.34% more.

The cost of the International Experience Canada (IEC) program, which caters to working vacationers and young professionals, has also increased by 4.51%.

The IRCC advised applicants to make sure they pay the appropriate fees at the time of application submission.
The most recent fees should be included in online applications at the time of submission.

Before December 1st, 2024, applications sent by mail with the old fees will not be denied, according to the IRCC; nonetheless, applicants will be required to pay the difference between the old and new rates.

The fee adjustment for all applicable fees, including those for family members, must be calculated by applicants who are required to pay the difference.

The “Make an additional payment or pay other fees” option on the IRCC’s online payment tool can be used to make the payment, and the payment receipt must be submitted in accordance with the guidelines provided by the IRCC.

INC claims that in order to maintain service quality and account for inflation, the IRCC frequently modifies its prices.
