Martins Vincent Otse, a.k.a. VeryDarkMan, is a social media personality and activist. He has explained why he will decline an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) due to a claim of corruption made against EFCC officers.

In a video, VeryDarkMan played what appeared to be an audio recording made by social media star Bobrisky, in which the latter claimed he was requested to pay N15 million in order to have a money laundering case against him withdrawn.

In response, the EFCC wrote to VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky inviting them to visit their Lagos office so they could “help investigators unearth the alleged bribery.”

But on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan declared that he would not be accepting the invitation to Lagos because he does not live there and he was unsure of what would happen to him if he went. Instead, he requested that they be invited to the anti-graft agency’s Abuja office.

He also charged that Bobrisky had not been properly committed to prison and had not been kept there by the EFCC.

“You (EFCC) should conduct a thorough check on your personnel before inviting someone like me. You can invite me after you receive the outcome from the police that handled Bobrisky’s file.

“It’s absurd that you’re instructing me to travel to Lagos since the EFCC headquarters are in Abuja. Instead, you ought to ask Bobrisky to come to Abuja so you may conduct your research.

Lastly, the fact that I lack N15 million to cover any expenses is the final reason I would not travel to Lagos. I don’t want to be set up, and I don’t have any godfathers anyplace. “I won’t go (to Lagos) and I don’t trust you,” he said in closing.

Bobrisky has called the tape phony and denied having paid N15 million to get the money laundering accusation withdrawn.
