Femi Falana, a human rights attorney, has addressed a charge made against him in a widely circulated audio clip that was shared by Martins Otse, also referred to as VeryDarkMan.

Falana characterized the claim that he sought a N10 million presidential pardon for Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, as a cunning, vile, and careless attempt to damage his name.

The senior attorney claimed that he had never discussed any topic, not even Bobrisky’s purported pardon, with the man.

Taiwo Olawanle, Falana’s attorney, wrote a letter to VeryDarkMan on Wednesday. In it, the legal expert requested that VeryDarkMan immediately retract the aforementioned publication and provide an apology that would be posted on all platforms the following day.

The entire publishing was a savage, evil, and careless plot to damage our client’s reputation and make him less respectable in the eyes of the public. Without fear of contradiction, we would want to declare that our client has never, ever spoken to Bobrisky about his purported pardon or any other topic.

Therefore, we demand that the disrespectful and disparaging article be immediately retracted and that you provide an apology that is widely displayed on all of the sites on which you have shared it without providing any kind of explanation.

A portion of the letter said, “Be advised that we shall proceed with our client’s instructions to seek appropriate legal remedies, including monetary damages, against you for your incendiary publication and dissemination of defamatory statements, provided we do not receive your formal retraction and apology as demanded within 24 (twenty-four) hours of the receipt hereof.”

Bobrisky claimed in a widely circulated audio clip obtained by VeryDarkMan that certain anonymous officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, demanded N15 million from him in exchange for the retraction of money laundering allegations made against him.

But Bobrisky asserted that he had served his jail sentence in an Instagram post published on Wednesday morning, denying that he had paid any EFCC officer to drop the money laundering accusations against him.
