Victor Boniface, who has been working hard to get back to full health, has been out since last November due to a thigh injury he got while playing for his country.
The 24-year-old striker has missed the team’s last 12 games in all competitions, and his absence has been felt deeply. However, Boniface is now scheduled to return to the European scene after a successful return to full training.
“We trained again this morning, and after assessing his condition, we decided that Victor Boniface can join the UCL trip to Madrid with the team,” Alonso said at a press conference, expressing hope about Boniface’s recovery.
He is improving every day, and he will undoubtedly be a part of the team for our game tomorrow [at 9 p.m. today]. This is tremendously good news for him personally as well as for all of us. It’s great to have Boni back with us, and he is feeling well.
Boniface has made a huge impact this season; in just 15 games in all competitions, he has scored eight goals and provided one assist for Bayer Leverkusen. His return coincides with a pivotal moment for the club as they look to secure a great performance against Atletico Madrid, a dangerous opponent.
