Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, has publicly attacked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, charging him with enacting policies bad for the nation’s development and prosperity.

Governor Mohammed said Tinubu is a leader who does not hear the people’s opinions when he paid a courtesy call to Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, the Chief Promoter of the Muslim-Muslim Ticket. He complained that the president was not doing anything to alleviate the suffering brought on by the actions of his administration.

According to the governor, “Tinubu and I are not on good terms because his policies are causing hardship for the citizens.” The northern region has been disproportionately impacted by the recent tax reforms that the federal government has proposed.

The governor underlined the North’s economic weaknesses, pointing out that many of the region’s states rely significantly on federal funding to survive. He cautioned that the tax changes will make the region’s problems worse and put it under even more financial hardship.

Unfortunately, the North’s survival is largely dependent on federal funding. He claimed that the proposed reforms will severely strain the area.

Sheikh Jingir should use his power to persuade President Tinubu to change his mind about these policies, the governor urged.

The governor underlined, “Thank God you are still here today to use your wise words of wisdom in this regard because we politicians tend to use harsh words in our approach. I can inform the change we require.”

He called for a more inclusive approach to governance that prioritizes the needs of all Nigerians, particularly the economically disadvantaged regions.
