Hon. Melvin James Ejeh, the chairman of the Agatu Local Government, has sharply denounced the recent attack on Okwutanobe Village in Agatu West, Benue State, by suspected herdsmen, in which homes were destroyed and animals were taken. The Agatu Local Government Council, especially in Agatu West, has been the target of numerous attacks, this one being the most recent.

Ejeh thanked the Nigerian Police Force and Nigerian Armed Forces for their prompt action in putting an end to the bandits and bringing peace back to the town through Operation Whirl Stroke. The coordinated effort proved how successful security agency cooperation can be.

A clearance operation has begun throughout the whole Agatu local government region in order to address the persistent security issues. In order to protect the safety and wellbeing of the people of Agatu, this operation seeks to eradicate the infiltration of bandits and herdsmen.

Hon. Ejeh reassured residents that peace, stability, and development in Agatu are top priorities for his administration. He underlined his dedication to restoring destroyed neighborhoods as quickly as possible. The administration promises that every effort will be made to achieve enduring peace for sustainable development and calls on criminal elements to turn themselves in and change their ways.

Ejeh reiterated that Agatu is the property of its people and that no one has the right to drive them from their ancestral home. He urged criminal elements to take advantage of the chance to turn themselves in and turn from their sins, paving the way for a peaceful and prosperous Agatu.
