Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered swift investigations into the horrible murder of a 17-year-old girl suspected of being exploited for ritual purpose.
The body of the dead, named as Chinasa Adigwe, was discovered in a bush in Omasi village in the Ayamelum Local Government Area of the State, according to a statement from police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga.
He claimed that before the police were notified, her privates were severed, and the body has since been found and placed in a morgue.
He stated, “On June 10, 2024, at 4:25 p.m., the girl’s lifeless body was discovered in a bush in Omasi Village. She was subsequently identified as Chinasa Adigwe from Umueje Village, and before the police were called, her private parts were severed in a bush in Omasi Village. After being found, the body was placed in a morgue.
“The CP while condoling with the family, friends and community of the deceased states that the Police shall do everything possible to make sure that those behind the barbaric act are arrested and justice served.”
