The former Barcelona and Arsenal player emphasized the Catalan team’s advantages and pointed out that they may learn from their previous competition failures to advance this year.
The club has performed admirably ever since Hansi Flick, a former manager of Bayern Munich, was brought in before the 2024–2025 season started.
They recovered well from a difficult start against AS Monaco, defeating Young Boys 5-0 at home, Bayern Munich (4-1 at home), and Crvena zvezda (2-5 away).
In an interview with CBS Sports after their victory over Crvena Zvezda, Henry said Barcelona is a serious candidate to win the UEFA Champions League in 2024–2025.
“This team has to be regarded as one of the favorites to win the Champions League right now,” he said. Will they win?
Sometimes losing in a quarterfinal or semifinal can teach a team about the challenges of elimination. Nevertheless, I firmly think they are prepared to succeed this time.
After spending about eight years with Premier League team Arsenal in two different stints, Henry himself won his sole Champions League trophy with Barcelona in the 2008–2009 season.
