According to Adebowale Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, a Nigerian activist and content producer, he grew brave following his incarceration in 2021.

Many young Nigerians protested against the proposal to reopen the Lekki Tollgate after the massacre of the #EndSARS demonstrators there on October 20, 2020.

During a demonstration against the tollgate’s reopening in February 2021, the Nigerian police arrested the content producer for disobeying a directive from the Lagos State government.
Macaroni stated in his most recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo that his time in police jail had given him the courage and resolve to stand up for the oppressed.

He described his experience, saying that officers stripped him naked and harassed him.

I believe that I should be involved because God has given me this platform today—not so that I will be well-liked, but so that I may use it to advocate for others who are unable to speak for themselves. How can I expect others to give up something that I refuse to give up?

After that encounter, all of my fear vanished. The twist is that. I could see the hatred and anger in their eyes after these men had tormented me.

“What I went through is not adequately conveyed in the comedy I created. In order for people to watch, I had to do it. I was totally nude. I was molested after they stripped us naked. They were talking about names and were joyful. They were saying I was disturbing some people.”
