Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), announced that the administration would shortly outlaw the use of buses and taxis on highways in Abuja.

Wike, who revealed this after reviewing the ongoing bus terminal projects in Mabushi and Kugbo districts, said by the time the projects are completed, the administration would no longer allow buses and taxis to operate on Abuja roads.

When these bus terminal developments are completed, buses and taxis won’t be permitted to operate on public roadways.
Everyone needs to relocate to the other terminals,” he declared.

He thanked the contractors for the work and mentioned that they had impressed the government in just three months.

He said, “I’m really thrilled. Our current location. This July 1st of this year saw the flagging of this site. It occurred at Mabushi. And you can see what they accomplished in just three months.

They have been granted 15 months to finish the job.
However, given the contractor’s current pace, we anticipate that it will be completed ahead of the allotted 15 months.

He has even promised to turn this project on to us by January of next year. Both this and the Mabushi at Kugbo.

The work’s end point is visible to you alone. You would have known that the two projects had truly done incredibly well if you had been present when we brought them up.

At the end of the day, I hope Abuja’s citizens will notice that we have altered the local environment and provided them with a new transit option—something they have been without for years. Thus, we are rather pleased with what we have observed. Extremely joyful.”
