In the statement headed “Re: Brigadier General MS Adamu’s pictures and connection with Seaman Abbas Haruna case,” it was recommended that the public support the investigation of the situation by the committee appointed by the Chief of Defence Staff.

It said: Images of Brigadier General Ms. Adamu, a serving senior officer, have once again stirred up controversy on social media. She is allegedly linked to the case of Seaman Abbas Haruna for the record, Seaman Abbas’s case has nothing to do with Brigadier General MS Adamu, whose photos are being used.

“The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, established a committee, and the Defense Headquarters would like to take this occasion to ask the public to support the committee’s conclusions so they are not influenced by public opinion. Defence Headquarters is pleading with the public to refrain from saying anything very offensive or that could violate a senior officer’s privacy or other fundamental human rights.

The senior officer is entitled to take legal action against any individual or group that publishes his photo or photos about the Seaman Abbas case.

Nigerians are still reassured by the military authority of their complete devotion to the rule of law. We’ll do every effort to resolve the matter, and the public will be informed appropriately when it’s resolved.
