During the Medical Mission in Oraifite, Ekwusigo local government of the state, no fewer than 1000 patients from various parts of Anambra state and beyond have received treatment for various ailments from 82 foreign doctors.
At the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital DIOMH Oraifite, the doctors from the USA, Sweden, Canada, and New York who work for the VOOM Foundation and the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation SEOF held a first-rate community health fair to conclude their mission.
The beneficiaries received free Medicare, a free cardiovascular examination, and free prescription eyewear for people with vision impairments.
Free walkers and special gift packets were also given out to those who were experiencing trouble walking. These initiatives were all intended to improve people’s lives and give back to the community.
29 children had successful free open heart surgeries, according to Mrs. Chidinma Okoye, Executive Director of the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF), while over 15 adults had their open heart procedures paid for with a subsidized bill.
“This September/October Mission of the VOOM Foundation successfully performed free open heart surgeries on 29 children, and over 15 adults received a subsidized bill for the open heart surgeries that were performed on them,” the speaker stated.
“These foreign Medical Volunteers performed free surgeries on some people who were unable to pay the subsidized expenses.
“Interveinal cardiologists joined the Medical Experts during the Free Medicare program and performed intraveinal catheterizations on ten children. The Foundation also collaborated with Immaculate Heart Eye Clinic, Nkpor in terms of personnel to treat several patients with eye problems.
“With the conclusion of this Sept/Oct. Medical Mission, a total of 120 Open Heart Surgeries have been successfully carried out at the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital Oraifite since the inauguration of this World Class Cardiovascular Facility two years ago.”
Shawn Andaya Pulliam, the executive director of the VOOM Foundation in the United States, disclosed that the 82 volunteer medical physicians who traveled to Anambra from the USA and other countries were steadfastly dedicated to the welfare of humanity.
Coordinator of VOOM Foundation Medical Missions Rachael Crandall asked for increased assistance from the government, individuals, and organizations, describing the Medical Mission as a significant milestone for the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ukamaka Onuigbo, Peace Nwabueze, and Onyinyechi Onwe, among the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to Engr. Dr. Emeka Okwuosa, AghA Oraifite, for his generosity and prayed to God for even more blessings.
