64 buses with a capacity of 100 seats each made of compressed natural gas, or CNG, have been purchased and delivered by the federal government.

During a brief ceremony on Sunday at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, the buses were turned over to the leadership of organized labor and student unions in Abuja.

As part of its attempts to reduce the cost of fueling cars used for public transportation, the Federal Government, through the presidency, also made available over 400 compressed natural gas conversion kits to private sector transporters in four states.

According to DAILY POST, the administration has been positive in its efforts to persuade drivers to switch to compressed natural gas (CNG) in order to lower their energy costs, as a result of the uproar from many Nigerians against the increase in transportation costs as a result of the strategy to remove fuel subsidies.

The organized labor has continuously emphasized that the Tinubu-led administration must implement palliative measures, such as placing a significant number of CNG vehicles on the road, in the months since the gasoline subsidy was eliminated.
