After two Kwankwasiyya Movement members left the party on Sunday, the crisis engulfing Kano State’s New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) took a new turn.
The departure coincides with the movement’s efforts to guarantee that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, its leader, wins the 2027 presidential election.
The two representatives, Alhassan Rurum (Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure) and Aliyu Sani Madaki Gini (Kano Municipal), were close friends of the former governor.
Speaking to his Kano constituents on Sunday, Madakin Gini, the House of Representatives Deputy Minority Leader, declared his intention to disassociate himself from the movement.
Aliyu Sani Madaki will no longer be associated with the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
They have rejected us, claiming that we don’t have any backing, but we don’t mind standing by ourselves. Let it be known—if necessary, I can take on anyone in the Kwankwasiyya Movement from the top down,” he continued.
He accused the movement of claiming that they were useless.
“That we have no help.” They must realize that I can confront everyone in Kwankwasiyya head-on,” he stated.
Additionally, he said that certain political groups were attempting to undermine Abba Yusuf, the current governor.
“I have a clear message for the governor. Their goal is to make him weaker.
“I’m telling him to be strong because people around him might surprise him if he doesn’t.” “I have information about schemes against him,” he declared.
