Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike said the administration has spent about N62.2 billion on road projects in Bwari Area Council alone, in the last one year.

Wike disclosed this on Friday during the commissioning of the newly completed 5kilometer Gaba-Tokulo road in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

He said the administration has equally spent about N28 billion on rehabilitation of Ushafa War College road, and all the roads in Ushafa community, and in addition to another N27 billion spent on rehabilitation of roads in Dutse community.

The minister added that his administration has also spent another N27 billion on rehabilitation of six secondary schools in Bwari Area Council, which include: Government Girls Secondary School, Dutse; Government Secondary School, Bwari; Government Secondary School Ushafa; Government Secondary School, Dei-dei; Government Secondary School, Kubwa; and Government Secondary School, Jibi.

According to him, “I will tell you how much Mr. President has injected to Bwari Area Council alone, not only in terms of road infrastructure, but also in education, so that everybody will now begin to compare.

This Gaba-Tokulo road costs us not less than N7 billion. From Dutse coming to this area, the total rehabilitation of the entire road has cost us not less than N27 billion.

The entire Ushafa War College road, and all the roads in Ushafa community have cost us not less than N28 billion.

Now, if you calculate for just road infrastructure in Bwari Area Council alone, you have aboyN62.2 billion.

Now, in terms of education, Government Girls Secondary School Dutse, Government Secondary School, Bwari, Government Secondary School Ushafa, which is a new one, GSS Dei-dei, GSS Kubwa, GSS Jibi, all these schools have cost us not less than N27 billion.

Now, if you add N27 billion to N62 billion, you’re almost getting to N100 billion for one area council.”

He assured that in the 2025 budget, every area council in the FCT would have at least one road project to be completed by the administration.
