Compensation for impacted inhabitants of the ongoing Arterial Road N5 development from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III has been promised by Mr. Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT.
After examining a few projects at the International Conference Centre in Abuja and Life Camp in Katampe on Monday, Wike provided the guarantee. The 4-kilometer, six-lane dual road from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III, located in Ido-Gwari, was put into service by the Minister on October 25.
After examining the ongoing works, the previous governor of Rivers State stated that some homes along the road corridor and some cash crops would be impacted.
However, Wike promised that the communities of those who would lose their homes or a portion of their structures, as well as those who possess some crops, would receive compensation within the two days.
The main reason we travelled to Life Camp was to deal with a few crops and a few houses for which we must pay compensation.
If moving them is necessary, we will do so; if only compensation is needed, we will do so, based on what is practical. He stated, “What matters to us is that we are collaborating with the different communities to address the issue.”
